Mother’s Day Gifts She’ll Love

Mother’s Day is this Sunday; you’ve left it a bit late. That’s fine. You’re here, you’re looking, and I’m not going to judge you; I’m going to help you! Everything on this list is something I own and would buy again without hesitating. These are real gifts that will actually land. You’ve got this!
Many of them are on Amazon, which means they can be at your door in a day or two if you have Prime. The rest link directly to the brand or a reputable retailer who sells the product, and you can buy in-store.
Health Tracking Ring

If she tracks her sleep, her cycle, or just wants to understand her body better, a health tracking ring is one of those things that changes how you think about your health. I’ve had an Oura Ring for 6 years now, and I love it! It’s comfortable to wear, and designed to be worn 24/7. It monitors sleep quality, heart rate variability, stress levels (and more!) then presents the real-time data in an easy to use mobile app. It ships with a sizing kit so she can get the right fit. Note: they are not standard ring sizes. For example, I have slim fingers, and my Oura ring is a size 9, on a finger that would probably be a standard size 8. Starts around $399.
Cashmere Wrap

If you want to properly spoil your Mother, this is the one! A good cashmere wrap gets used constantly; on the sofa, on a plane, draped over her shoulders at a restaurant when the AC is blasting. Lightweight, 100% cashmere, and so soft; it’s the kind of thing she’ll use regularly for years to come. This is the upgraded version of “something cozy.” They can range in price, but expect to pay at least $350 for a quality one. Try the Tulip Travel Wrap from Lemonwood; it comes in a dozen or so different colours.
Dieux Forever Eye Masks

These are reusable silicone eye patches that hold your eye cream or serum against the skin while you watch TV or read. The idea is that the occlusion makes whatever product she’s already using work significantly better. No waste, no disposables, and they last indefinitely (as long as you take care of them). Skincare people are obsessed with them for good reason. Around $55 at sephora.ca.
Ultrasonic Jewellery Cleaner

I love my jewelry cleaner and use it regularly. You fill it with water, drop in your rings, necklaces and bracelets, press a button, and a few minutes later they look like they just came back from the jeweller. It uses ultrasonic sound waves to get into every tiny crevice. Great for anyone who wears gold, silver, or diamond jewellery. Bonus: they’re also good for cleaning your glasses. Around $60 on Amazon.
It’s not necessary, but I do recommend getting the cleaner liquid and using that in the device. The results are better.
Kindle Paperwhite

If your Mother is a reader and doesn’t already have one, a Kindle Paperwhite is one of the best things you can give a reader. Lightweight, holds thousands of books, adjustable warm light so she can read in bed without disturbing anyone. The base model starts around $145. It is also waterproof, which is a real bonus for around the pool, cottage, or beach.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Hand Cream

A classic for a reason, your Mother will love it! This hand cream is super rich, absorbs well, and the formula hasn’t changed in like 50 years; because it doesn’t need to. It’s the hand cream I reach for when my hands are dry from cooking or being outside. Perfect to tuck into a gift bag alongside something else, or give on its own. It also has a soothing, herbaceous scent of fresh thyme. Around $38.
Travel Jewellery Case

Small, square, zips all the way around. This case has little slots and hooks for rings, earrings, and necklaces so nothing tangles. It fits in a handbag or a carry-on without taking up much space. If she travels at all, she needs one of these. Around $35.
Farmers Market Tote

A proper tote for the Saturday market, the grocery run, or just carrying things around. Practical, useful, and the kind of thing people actually grab every week. This one is made from jute, and has a reinforced bottom, water-resistant coating, and a zippered inside pocket for you keys or phone. Around $30.
Silk Pillowcase

I’ve covered this one before and my feelings haven’t changed. A silk pillowcase is great for your skin and hair; I swear by it. Less friction overnight means less face creasing and less hair breakage. A lovely treat for any Mother. Look for 100% mulberry silk. Expect to pay around $50 depending on the brand.
Candle Warmer Lamp

Another one I’ve featured before. A candle warmer lamp heats your candle from above with a low-watt bulb instead of burning it with a flame. This means it lasts longer, throws scent beautifully, and there’s no soot or fire risk. They look lovely on a side table and come in several finishes. Around $35.
Wide-Open Zip Toiletry Bag

This is the makeup bag that changes how you pack. It zips across the top, and when you open it, the whole thing drops wide open so you can see everything at once. No digging, no rifling through a dark interior in a hotel bathroom. If she travels or just hates a cluttered counter, she’ll use this constantly. Around $30.
Books for the Beach, the Cottage, or the Flight
All three of these are exactly what a vacation read should be: fun, romantic, easy to pick-up and put down. All available at Indigo (indigo.ca).
Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman. A restless young journalist with big dreams interviews a Hollywood heartthrob, and reunites with him ten years later to discover exactly how he feels about her in this sexy and engrossing novel. Cute and sexy! ($23 at Indigo)

A Caribbean Heiress in Paris by Adriana Herrera. A historical romance set at the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle. A heiress to a rum empire, trying to do business in a male dominated industry, never mind being a woman of colour. Perfect for anyone who likes their romance with a bit of atmosphere. ($24 at Indigo)

Book Lovers by Emily Henry. A cutthroat literary agent, coerced by her sister to spend a month vacationing in a small town, keeps running into her rival. Warm, funny, and exactly what you want when you need to disappear into a story for a few hours. ($23 at Indigo)

Whatever you pick, she’s going to love it!
