The Everyday Edit: February 2026

Elevating the February Mid-Winter Funk
Is it just me, or does February feel like the longest short month ever? We’ve survived the frantic energy of January’s “New Year, New Me”, and now we’re in that strange limbo where the ground is frozen, my skin feels two sizes too small, and I’m popping vitamin D pills like they’re candy.
If you’ve been following EverydayTRACY, you know I’m all about finding the beauty or the pleasure in the mundane. But when it’s -10 C, it gets oh so much harder to do! I’m currently in a committed relationship with my coziest cardigans, but that doesn’t mean life has stopped. In fact, despite my hibernation vibes, February’s calendar has been surprisingly full. I was even out for a lovely dinner with my girlfriends last Friday night! Nothing beats a fancy cocktail and even better conversation to remind you that there is life outside of your living room. But, the transition from “couch potato” to “chic 50-something at a bistro” requires a little help from my friends (and by friends, I mean my favorite products).
Here is how I’m elevating the everyday this month; the little things keeping me sane while I try and hide from the snow.
The Kindle Scribe: My Winter Companion
If there is one thing I’ve learned on my journey of adopting digital technologies, it’s that the best tech simplifies your life. And for those of you who have been following me for a while, you will know my love for the Amazon Kindle Scribe (if you don’t know, you can read all about it here). Well, the love affair is still going strong!
The TLDR version: I was skeptical at first as I’ve always been a “physical book” person. I like the weight, the smell, and the tactile satisfaction of turning a page. But the Kindle Scribe has become my constant companion for two very specific reasons: it has single-handedly revived my reading habit (which was a 2025 goal ✅), and it has cured my out of control sticky note syndrome.

The Ultimate Reading Motivator
It removes all the friction, and that’s half my battle with reading more. My Kindle gives me an entire library on demand, so I’m never stranded between books, never waiting until “I have something good to read”. At night, the built-in back-light lets me read in bed without turning on any lights, and the page stays exactly where I left it should I nod-off. I even find myself reaching for it during those quiet afternoon lulls, instead of mindlessly scrolling on TikTok (which is another win!).
The Productivity Power-Up
But it’s the “Scribe” part that was more life changing. It feels remarkably like writing on paper! It also comes with a stylus that magnetically attaches to the side, and never needs charging or a new battery. The Scribe is also super slim and light-weight, and easily slips into my tote bag.
The Organization: I’ve created digital notebooks for everything. One for blog ideas, one for website projects, one for “must-try” recipes, one for my daily to-do lists, one for my grocery list – you get the picture. And my desk and kitchen stay clear from the constant clutter of yellow sticky notes.
If you’re tech-curious but hate fussy or hard to master gadgets, this is for you. It’s intuitive, sleek, and makes you feel organized even when the rest of February feels like a big blob of endless grey.
L’Oréal Lash Paradise Big Deal Mascara: My Everyday Eye-Opener
We’ve all had those mornings. You wake up, look in the mirror, and realize that February has decided to suck the life right out of your face. Whether I’m headed out to meet the girls, or just running errands, I want to look fresh and “bright-eyed” without looking like I’ve spent an hour in front of a vanity. I’ve been a devotee of the original Lash Paradise for years, but the “Big Deal” version is the current MVP in my makeup bag.

Why the “Big Deal” is actually a big deal:
Most volumizing mascaras (like Lash Paradise) come with those giant, fluffy brushes that I often end up smudging on my eyelids. The “Big Deal” version features a slimmer, molded plastic bristle brush.
Precision: It allows you to get right into the corners of your lashes, separating them perfectly. No clumps, no “spider legs”, just long defined lashes that make you look instantly more alert.
The Budget Factor: I’m a firm believer in the high/low make-up mix. I’ll invest in luxury make-up items, if they’re worth it. Mascara though? Drugstore is king. And I never pay more than $14.99 CAD for this mascara as its regularly on sale, either at the drugstore or on Amazon. Oh, and bonus, since you should replace your mascara every couple of months for optimal eye health/hygiene, this price point makes that much easier to do. Nothing pains me more than throwing out a half used mascara tube that cost me $40.
Silk Pillowcases: The Anti-Frizz Secret I Swear By
I’ve been sleeping on a silk pillowcase for about three years now. And if I’m forced to sleep on cotton (like at a hotel), my hair is not happy the next morning! If you are struggling with “winter hair” (you know, that static-heavy, frizzy, dull look), a silk pillowcase is the easiest upgrade you can make.

It’s All About the Surface
The primary reason I love silk isn’t just about luxury; it’s about friction.
For Your Hair: Cotton is surprisingly abrasive under a microscope. Every time you toss and turn, those cotton fibers are snagging your hair cuticles, leading to frizz and breakage. Silk allows your hair to glide. I wake up with hair that actually looks like it belongs to me, rather than some sort of crazy bird.
For Your Skin: At 50+, our skin is losing it’s elasticity. Sleeping on a rough surface can actually exacerbate the lines on your face. Silk is gentler on your skin, and it’s less likely that you’ll wake up with those deep sleep creases that require drinking 3 glasses of water to plump up.
A Note on Maintenance: don’t be intimidated by having to care for silk. I wash my pillow cases in the machine on a delicate cycle (typically along with my bras and underwear). I even tumble-dry on low heat. Trust me, it’s a small investment that pays off every single morning.
The Ultimate Valentine’s Treat: Molten Chocolate Cake
Since Valentine’s Day falls right in the heart of the winter blues, I think we all deserve a little something decadent. Whether you’re celebrating with your partner or just want a “sweet treat” after a long week, my Molten Chocolate Cake is the answer.

This recipe is foolproof. It’s all about that gooey, warm molten center that feels like a hug in a ramekin. I like to serve mine with a dollop of whipped cream, and a handful of fresh raspberries to cut through the richness. It’s the ultimate “elevating the everyday” moment, taking less than 30 minutes in the kitchen, and turning dessert into a restaurant-quality experience.
Final Thoughts for February
February doesn’t have to be “flat.” It can be the month where we lean into the things that make us feel good – whether that’s escaping into a great book, a dinner out with dear friends, or just the pampered feeling of silk against your skin.
We’re halfway to spring, everyone! Until then, stay cozy, keep reading, and remember: you deserve to feel elevated, even on the greyest of days.
I’d love to hear from you! Are you a silk pillowcase convert, or are you still loyal to crisp cotton? And if you have questions about the laser treatment experience, ask away in the comments; I’m always happy to share the “unfiltered” details!
